Which currencies can I use for a SWIFT transfer?
You can make a SWIFT transfer via ING Mobile in EUR, USD, and GBP. You can make your transfer from either your foreign currency account or your TRY current account.
SWIFT transfers cannot be made directly from an Orange Account. To make a SWIFT transfer, first transfer the amount to your current account, then complete the transfer from there.
Will I be charged for a SWIFT transfer?
SWIFT transfers made through ING Mobile are free of charge under the following conditions:
- For EUR SWIFT transfers, neither the ING processing fee nor the correspondent bank fee is charged.
- For USD and GBP SWIFT transfers, neither the ING processing fee nor the correspondent bank fee is charged for the first transfer of each month.
- No ING processing fee is charged for incoming SWIFT transfers received into your ING accounts.
Is my SWIFT transfer completed right away?
You can easily create a SWIFT transfer instruction, and your transfer will be completed as soon as possible. In some cases, additional information or documents may be requested to complete the transaction.
How can I track my SWIFT transfer?
You can track your transfer status in real time through the ING Mobile app. If you would like to receive updates as notifications, you can turn on your notifications. To manage your notification preferences, tap your profile photo in ING Mobile and select “Notification Settings.” In the transaction details, you can view statuses such as “In Progress” and “Completed.” Depending on the process, your transfer may pass through correspondent banks before reaching the recipient bank.
What should I do if I entered incorrect information or want to cancel my transfer?
If your transaction has not been completed yet, you can request a cancellation. However, if the funds have already been sent, the recall process depends on the recipient bank’s approval and cannot be guaranteed.
Will additional documents be required for SWIFT transfers?
In accordance with applicable regulations, we may request additional information or supporting documents for SWIFT transfers exceeding USD 5,000 and/or for transfers where a purpose other than “FX TRANSFER” is specified in the description field. For example, transactions such as tuition payments, overseas rent payments or real estate purchases may require documentation such as invoices, contracts, or similar supporting documents.
What happens if I provide incorrect recipient details?
If the payment details are incomplete or incorrect, the recipient's bank may reject the payment, and send the money back to you. You might still be charged a fee, and you won't get the full amount back.
Who pays the fees for a SWIFT transfer?
When you send money abroad, you can choose how you - or the receiver - would like to be charged.
- Sender (OUR): When you use OUR, you'll pay all fees, including the recipient's bank fee. Choose this option when you want to ensure that the original amount you send arrives at the bank of the recipient. For individual SWIFT transfers made through ING Türkiye, this method is applied and your transfer will reach the recipient in full. (The recipient's bank may charge a fee for incoming SWIFT transfers.)
- Shared (SHA): When you use SHA, you'll only pay ING's fee. The recipient will pay their bank's fee and any intermediary bank's fees. With this option, it's unsure whether the original amount arrives at the bank of the recipient.
- Beneficiary (BEN): When you use BEN, the recipient pays all fees. This includes ING's fee, any intermediary bank's fees, and their own bank's fees. With this option, it's unsure whether the original amount arrives at the bank of the recipient.
What if the SWIFT code is shorter than 11 characters?
If the SWIFT code is shorter than 11 characters, you can use the 8 character SWIFT (BIC) code to complete your transaction. This code is enough to identify the recipient bank. If a specific branch is not required, you can add “XXX” to the end of the code and continue with your transfer.
